The show has come to a close and Virginia has a new
queen. On April 6th, 2013, Erin Ashworth Brown was crowned Mrs.
Virginia at the Historic Colonial Theatre, in South Hill, Virginia.
Erin and her husband Wesley have been married for a little over 11
years. Together they have two beautiful, talented daughters, Eden,
age 9 and Allie, age 3. Our new Mrs. Virginia is from the extreme
southwest part of the state, located in the heart of the Appalachian
Mountains.
Erin graduated from Bluefield College in Bluefield Virginia with a
B.S.in Behavioral Science in 2009. She is employed by Cumberland
Mountain Community Services as a Mental Health Case Manager. Erin’s
role includes assisting clients in her community who have a
diagnosis of long-term mental illness.
Extremely passionate about health and fitness, Erin has completed 2
full marathons and is currently training for her third. Erin is a
certified Zumba and RIPPED instructor and enjoys inspiring people to
become healthy and active.
Cancer awareness, prevention and early detection will be Erin’s
platform for the coming year. “Everyone has been touched by this
disease in some way.” Both Erin’s paternal grandmother and one of
her aunts lost their fight against breast cancer. Her maternal
grandmother was diagnosed with cancer several years ago but remains
cancer free at this time. Erin has held many fundraisers for The
American Cancer Society and Komen for the Cure. She is looking
forward to bringing more attention to these organizations during her
reign.
Erin and her husband were married at the age of 19. She states that
at that time she wasn’t sure what God’s plans were going to be for
her life and what role’s she would fulfill. During her marriage,
Erin has juggled being a wife, mother, student, employee, and
volunteer successfully. She states she has become someone her 19
year-old self would be very proud of. Erin will be competing at the
Mrs. America Pageant in August of this year and looks forward to the
challenges of the future.
Erin won a custom evening gown from Frankie
Couture, the official crown ring from Ballerina Jewelers, a designer
gown from Alberto Makali, Cosmetic Dentistry from Norge Dental plus
much more.
